A Study on the Infantile Nutritions and Weaning Practice - Focused on the Infantiles of Kunsan City and Okkugun Area -


Abstract
This study was held for the purpose of clarifying the problems of general health of the infantile the mothers of their health guide, to increase the knowledge¡¯s and techniques of the infantile nutrition for the reasonable bringing up of them.
The objects of this study was limited to the age group of 6 months to 4 years. And there are 402 cases during the 30 days term of Nov. 6th -to Dec. 6th of 1976, and 50 days term of March 1st to April 20th of 1977 around Kunsan city, Okkugun area.
The main research were projected on the points of general characteristics, the method of nurture, and the weaning practice by means of counseling with them.
The conclusion of this study is as follows:
1. The major age groups of the babies and mothers of the study cases were 25 to 36 months of babies and 25 to 29 years of mothers. And the higher educational back ground of the mothers were high school graduation as about 30% of them, and most of them were the house wives as 88. 1%
2. The breast feeding tendencies were found among the rural and lower educational group(p<0. 05). And the resources of the knowledge of artificial feeding group were the professionals and books about it along the higher educational personals (67.9%). And the sterilization and nourishment were found among the higher educational and urban community groups(p<0.05).
3. The average weaning term was 7 to 8 months (31.3% ; 7.75 month (mean)) and the tendency of earlier weaning was found among the higher educational

and in community. Although, the completion of. weaning in the urban community was later than the rural community. Generally the lower educational community, the later weaning.
4. There were some differences-of supplemental nutritions between the different educational degrees, And it was higher rate of solid food nutrition among the group of rural and lower educated.
